The Trina TSM-465NED9R.28 Shield Dual Glass Black Frame is the extra heavy-duty version within the Vertex S+ range for rooftops where maximum mechanical protection matters. Thanks to its 465W output and 23.3% efficiency, this panel combines strong energy yield with exceptional resistance to severe weather conditions. The Shield version uses thicker glass layers of 2.5 mm on the front and 2.0 mm on the rear, making it specifically designed for extreme hail, wind and snow loads.

Why choose the Trina TSM-465NED9R.28 Shield?

The Shield version is intended for installations where standard panels do not provide enough mechanical protection. Compared with the regular Black Frame version, this model is around 6 kg heavier per panel because of its reinforced glass build, which is important for both the roof structure and the installer. In return, it delivers the highest mechanical protection currently offered by Trina in this series, including VKF HW4 hail test, Class A+A fire rating according to IEC 61730-2, and standard load capacity of +7000 Pa front side and -5000 Pa back side. This makes it especially suitable for locations with severe snow load, strong wind and elevated hail risk.

Please note: the Shield version weighs 27 kg, making it significantly heavier than the standard 21 kg version. Always verify whether the roof structure, mounting system and on-site handling are suitable for this additional mass. Mounting hardware, grounding components and other installation accessories are not included. Trina explicitly confirms in the manual that grounding materials are not supplied. Use only UV-resistant PV cable of at least 4 mm² (12 AWG), keep at least 100 mm clearance from the roof or wall, and do not mix different connector brands or connector types.

Use UV-resistant copper cable of at least 4 mm², ensure proper grounding, keep at least 100 mm rear clearance for ventilation, and only use compatible mating connectors. Grounding materials are not supplied and must be sourced separately.
