Home batteries and solar panels are rapidly becoming more expensive – why investing now is wise

Prices for home batteries and solar panels are rising rapidly. Not temporarily, but structurally. Home batteries: rising prices and limited availability

Home battery systems such as Dyness Stack, Pylontech, BYD, Anker Solix and Zendure SolarFlow are becoming more expensive at a rapid pace. The market expects a price increase of 5 to 10% in the first half of 2026. The main reasons are:

• The Chinese government is phasing out export tax rebates on batteries. From April 1, the VAT rebate will drop from 9% to 6%, and will be completely eliminated as of January 2027.
• Rising raw material prices, including lithium and nickel.
• Manufacturers are operating at full capacity and pushing delivery schedules further out.
• Demand is surging as installers and distributors secure inventory in advance.

The result: customers who order their home battery systems now benefit from lower prices and better availability.

Solar panels are also increasing in price – and fast

It’s not only batteries. Solar panel prices have also risen sharply in recent weeks. This is mainly due to:

• Silver – essential for solar cells – being 150% more expensive than last year.
• Significant price increases in polysilicon and aluminium.
• The complete removal of the VAT rebate for Chinese solar panel manufacturers as of April 1.
• Higher export prices caused by the stronger Chinese currency.

In addition, Chinese manufacturers have reduced production to avoid oversupply. As a result, deliveries are more tightly scheduled and quotations are often only valid for a few days. Supply pressure is particularly high ahead of the Chinese New Year on February 17.
